Hot off the presses! Adele is making her big debut with her own custom birth announcements! I just finished these up, complete with use of my current fav font, Adelle.

love

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless–it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.

thanksgiving

I took on an important rite of passage for 2008 and I hosted Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year. My little shotgun ranch was perfect for a Thanksgiving dinner of three. The bird, was was brined in an apple cider mixture and then cooked in an oven bag. Chorizo cornbread stuffing to go along is becoming a family classic. So dang good!!! Mom brought up a winter squash soup and a pumpkin flan dessert.

I had no idea how exhausting doing all that was! I was in bed by 9:30 – I couldn’t have stayed up if I had wanted to!!

It was super fun and I hope it will become a new tradition!

amo zareh

My father’s best friend, Zareh, lost his battle with lung cancer over the weekend. He stayed pretty active and even helped me with projects around my house up until about a month or two ago when he started getting pretty sick. From what I hear from my dad, he was his sassy self up until the end.

It’s gonna be pretty strange not having him around. I had dinner with my dad at Touché on Thursday night, and it didn’t feel like the same place.

"right" coast

Folly Beach, SC

Getting ready for an east coast vacation. I can hardly wait! I’m not even in the mindset yet that I’m going. Charleston, South Carolina for a week in the sun on the beach and another few days in Boston for Greg’s master’s graduation ceremony and a design conference. Check out the Fairmount Hotel where I’m staying! Baller.
